Voices for the Voiceless: Justice, Compassion, Hope!

experiential learning program

To The Roots is the Jane Goodall Institute Nepal’s experiential learning program that brings young people closer to nature, wildlife, culture, and community. Built around the Animal–People–Environment philosophy, the program takes learning beyond the classroom through guided outdoor experiences, hands-on conservation, community engagement, cultural discovery, and personal reflection. From planting native trees and exploring forests to learning from local communities and working together around a campfire, To The Roots helps students grow into confident, compassionate, and environmentally responsible young leaders;ready to understand their connection with the world and take positive action within it.

Evenings are filled with reflection, teamwork, and connection around the bonfire, allowing participants to experience the joy of learning and living together in nature.

Madhesh

Students explore farms, learn about traditional farming and seed saving, cook and share meals with local communities, interact with local schools, and participate in pocket forest plantation and conservation activities. The expedition also introduces them to Mithila art, religious forests, Dhanushadham, Janakpur’s cultural heritage, and the living traditions of Madhesh, creating a deeper understanding of how environmental conservation and community identity are interconnected.
